THE RESORT
IN SUMMER
Grächen is a little village on a sunny plateau over the Zermatt-valley. It is an excellent family destination all year around.
In summer, Grächen offers a diverse range of adventures and activities: hiking, mountain biking, monster scooters, golf, Kneipp treatments and much more. For more information please click here.
A network of beautiful mountain hiking trails cover forest, mountain lakes, historic irrigation channels, and the entrance to the snout of the Ried glacier. The Hannigalp at 2,100 m is the heart of the hiking region. Click here for more information on the hiking trails .
For mountain bikers, Grächen is the ideal place of departure. The Valais offers a total of almost 100 km well-prepared cycling trails, surrounded by the stunning natural scenery provided by some of the highest mountains in Switzerland.
Exciting adventures are guaranteed at the adventure playground ‘Robis playground' in the forest or when you set up camp in the village of authentically furnished tepee tents on Hannigalp.
On the exclusive Ravensburger Spieleweg (a games trail) families can combine an enjoyable walk with exciting games. And if that is not enough, there is a weekly animation program. You can access it here.
IN WINTER
Compared to its famous neighbors Zermatt and Saas-Fee, Grächen is a less crowded and a particularly friendly place to visit.
Grächen has an excellent reputation as a family ski resort. It features Switzerland’s largest family park, the "SiSu Familienpark", which covers an area of more than 50,000 m2 and includes beginners’ slopes, four magic carpets, a ski carousel, a snowtubing run, an igloo cinema and the ‘Mäc SiSu’ family restaurant. Additionally, there is a family fun slope, a skimovie-stadium, child care in the center of the ski area, a fairy tale cable car and two ski/snowboard schools schools with lessons starting from 2 1/2 years old.
Although a lot of slopes are south-facing, most of the runs are reasonably snow-sure. The area offers 42 km of ski runs (9 km blue slopes, 31 km red slopes and 2 km black slopes) between 1,620 m and 2,858 m with stunning panoramic views over some of the highest mountains in Switzerland. Grächen has been awarded 5/5 in slope preparation. Click here to find the ski map.
Besides skiing, there are 38 km of winter hiking trails, a toboggan run and 23km snowshoe trails that attracts non-skiers to enjoy the snowy winter landscape. And in the odd occasion when the sun is once not shining in Grächen, there is a special alternative for children, families and adults. More information please click here.
